The Southeastern North Carolina Genealogical Society will meet at the Missionary Alliance Church located at 623 Warrior Trail in Whiteville on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2:00 p.m. Some members and visitors arrive early to share family histories. Bill Thompson, Southern heritage writer and speaker, will present the program on his latest book Lessons From a Small Town: A Love Letter to My South.
His column Front Porch Stories was a regular feature in Our State magazine for almost a decade and he has now authored eight books. The event is free and open to the public.
