Tommy Kent Spivey, age 80, died on April 23, 2024.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of Tabor City, NC, the son of the late H. Cliff and Ruby H. Spivey.
He was a farmer, and this was his passion his entire life. Tommy also worked at Tabor City Foods cannery
for five years as a young man. Later, Tommy enjoyed his time working at the Columbus County Tax Office
for 26 years, where he measured real estate county-wide, and when in the office, was a welcoming and
helpful public servant.
He was a dedicated and trusted poll worker and judge working at the South Williams precinct of the
Columbus County Elections Board for fifty years. Tommy was also a member of the Tabor City Rescue
Auxiliary and the Tabor City Lions Club for many years.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and in-law, a kind and caring friend, and charitable to his community.
He is survived by his brother, Billy Spivey (Daphine), of Spartanburg, SC, and numerous nieces and
nephews. He is pre-deceased by three sisters, Doris Gay, Faye Rozier, and Barbara Spivey (Donald),
and two brothers, Jimmy Spivey (Betty Jo) and Donald Spivey (Linda).
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in Inman Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City, NC.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 6, at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City, NC.
