Norbit Carlyle, age 91, of Ash, NC, died Thursday, May 2, 2024 in his home. Born April 29, 1933 in Scotland County, NC, he was the son of the late Clarence Carlisle and Emma Turbeville Carlisle.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Elfleta Ward Carlyle of the home; two sons, John Francis Carlyle (Charlotte) of Johns Creek, GA, and Brian Keith Carlyle (Tabatha) of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Kathleen Mills (Eldred) of Jacksonville, FL; five brothers, Ashley Carlisle of Tabor City, NC, Shelton Carlisle of Jacksonville, FL, Ray Carlisle of Tabor City, NC, James Carlisle of Tabor City, NC, and Truman Carlisle of Tabor City, NC; two sisters, Vickie Sue Hardee of Tabor City, NC, and Britty Ann Butler of Tabor City, NC; four grandchildren, Corey Carlyle (Chelsea), Connor Carlyle, Cameron Carlyle (Cheyenne), and Joshua Carlyle; one great grandchild, Blake Carlyle; one step son, Greg Inman (Linda) of Ash, NC; one step grandchild, Brandon Inman; and special friend Wilbur Babson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son; James Thomas Carlyle; four brothers, John Carlisle, Roy Carlisle, Alton Carlisle, and David Carlisle; and one sister, Libby Cartrette.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Visitation will also be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the New Britton Baptist Church, Ash, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the New Britton Baptist Church, Ash, NC. Burial will follow in the Sandy Plain Cemetery, Tabor City, NC.
