James Clyde Oakley, Sr, age 80, of Whiteville, NC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Lower Cape Fear Angel House, Whiteville. Jimmy was born on November 27, 1941 in New Hanover County to the late Clyde Cleveland Oakley and Velma Long Oakley.
He served his country in the Army National Guard. Jimmy worked at Wells Auto Parts for 8 years and NAPA Auto Parts for 12 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Nancy Harrelson Oakley, son; James Clyde Oakley (Clarissa), Jr. of Morristown, TN, a daughter; Kim Oakley Duncan of Hickory, NC, and 4 grandchildren; Kaitlin Duncan, Jenna Duncan, Grayson James Oakley, Ryan Garrison Oakley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 2:30 pm in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dr. Terry Hunt officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:15 pm prior to the service.
