Eddie Pierce

August 17, 1937 ~ August 15, 2023 (age 85)

Mr. James “Eddie” Pierce, Jr. 85, of Lake Waccamaw passed on Tuesday August 15, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Angel House, Whiteville. He was born August 17, 1937, the son of the late James E. Pierce, Sr. and Bernice Cook Pierce.

Eddie retired from Federal Paper Board after 38 years. He also was a volunteer firefighter with the Lake Waccamaw Fire and Rescue Department. He enjoyed car shows and loved  old vehicles especially his 1955 Chevy truck.  We would like to encourage people to drive old cars and trucks to his funeral. He enjoyed his time on the lake front talking to his friends and solving all the world problems.  His favorite quote when asked how he was doing was “better than I deserve”.

He loved his family and considered all his friends as part of his family. He was proud of his five grandsons and his four great grandchildren.

He is survived by a son,  Jimmy Pierce and wife, Paula of Hallsboro; a daughter, Lisa Parrish and husband, Michael of Pfafftown, NC; a sister, Elaine Pierce Kirkman of Wingate, NC; grandchildren, Jamie Pierce (Kristin), Brian Pierce (Morgan), Tanner Parrish (Catherine), Ryan Parrish, Landon Parrish; great grandchildren, Kynleigh Pierce, Olivia Pierce, Henry Pierce, Kamryn Pierce.

His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Tarpley officiating.  Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

His family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday at Peacock Funeral Home prior to his service.
