Brenda Gail Smith Ward, 67, of the Beaverdam Community in Chadbourn, went to be her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023,while in the Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Brenda was born on August 25, 1955, in Columbus County, daughter of the late Earlie Major Smith, and Lelor Ruth Leonard Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Howard Smith, Mary Lou Smith, Virginia Smith Tyree, Alfred Lee “JE” Smith, Kay Smith, John Henry Smith.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Worthington Funeral Home, with Pastor John Beattie and Pastor Mitchell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
Survivors include three sons, James Caleb Ward (Teresa) Chadbourn, Daniel Clint Ward (Laura) of Chadbourn, Wesley Earl Ward of Chadbourn; siblings, Doretha S. Walker of Whiteville, Joyce Marie Smith Stanley (Wade) of Clarendon; grandchildren, Joshua Caleb Ward, Carly Danielle Ward, Rebekah Ward, Alexis Michelle Ward, Logan Daniel Ward, Tristan Clint Ward, and Lily Jean Ward.
