November 29, 1939 ~ January 1, 2024 (age 84)
J. Daniel Ward, lovingly known as “Pete”, entered into his eternal home on Monday, January 1, 2024,
while in the Columbus Regional Healthcare System; he was 84 years old. 
Pete was the son of the late Daniel Frazier Ward and Mattie Mae Simmons Ward. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene Williamson Ward and his siblings, Rudolph Ward, Norman Ward, Troy Ward, Charles Ward, Kathleen Weatherford, Edwin Ward (infant), Mary Jane Powell, Betty Jo Dallas, and Eugene Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Conway officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 prior to the service on Thursday, at Worthington Funeral Home.
Pete was a faithful member of Chadbourn Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Pete leaves behind his four children: Danny Ward (Lisa) of Whiteville, David Delane Ward (Pamela) of Cerro Gordo, Dickie W. Ward of Chadbourn, and Deidre Irene Ward of Chadbourn; four grandchildren, Anthony Ward (Jennifer), Devin Ward, Jaelyn Norris and Aida Ward; and great-grandchildren, William Adam, Weston Luke Ward, Rowan Greene and Salem Greene; brother, Dewey Ward of Chadbourn; special friend, Sara Coleman of Chadbourn.
