December 29, 1962 ~ June 12, 2024 (age 61)
Melinda Love Memory, age 61, of Whiteville, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Angel House in Whiteville. Melinda was born on December 29, 1962. She is preceded in death by her parents; Robert E. Memory and Louise Love Memory and a sister; Billie Ri Memory.
Upon graduation from high school, Melinda attended Southeastern Community College and received training in Early Childhood Education and Cosmetology. She was a member of Porter Swamp Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo where she served on the Children’s Committee, Kitchen Committee, as a Sound Tech, in VBS, and a member of the choir. She talked often about her piano lessons and playing the guitar. She sang some solos in church.
Melinda loved old movies like “The Sound of Music” and playing video games. Her favorite song was “Putting On The Ritz” and she liked the actresses Judy Garland and Julie Andrews. She loved people, as well as helping them and always talked about being in God’s Will. She was concerned with people coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Melinda worked at Memory Twins Service Station, Trinity Baptist Childcare and as a volunteer at the Ambassador Camp at Lake Waccamaw.
Melinda touched the hearts of many children in Columbus County.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother; Robert Sims Memory of New York, cousins; William E. Memory, Jr. (Patti) and Michael Powell both of Whiteville, and several other relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Porter’s Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm prior to the service.
