Joseph “Joe” Kent Simmons, age 62, of Tabor City, NC, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Joe was born in Columbus County on August 21, 1961 to the late Robert “Bobby” Napoleon Simmons and Louise Ward Simmons. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother; Samuel Mitchell Simmons.
Joe worked for several years as an industrial plumber. Joe was also known as (aka) “The 4 Footer” because he was short in statue.
Left to cherish his memory are three sisters; Charlotte Ann Simmons of Bolton and Jenice Simmons and Deborah K. Simmons both of Tabor City, three brothers; James R. Simmons of Sanford, NC, Stephen A. Simmons of Tabor City and Larry O’Neil Simmons of Chadbourn, a daughter; Faye Cash of Tabor City and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Camp Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Darryll Hester officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary.
