Linda Louise Locklear

August 1, 1955 ~ July 25, 2024 (age 68)

Linda Louise Locklear, 68, of Chadbourn, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024, after a most courageous battle with cancer.  Up until the end, Linda maintained her kind heart, contagious smile, her gratitude for her long life, and her love for her family and friends.

Linda enjoyed fishing, watching game shows, and developing lasting friendships with many people.  She never met a stranger and could instantly strike up a conversation.  No matter where she went, she would always encounter an old friend or someone she knew.  She would always flash that sincere smile and follow it with a “Hey baby!”

Throughout her illness, Linda remained strong, determined, and positive.  She never once complained about her situation and even spread hope to others around her.  One could easily recognize her fighting spirit and greatly admire the courage she possessed.  She fought hard, but she loved even harder.

Linda’s most proud moment was the day she accepted Jesus as her Savior.  She immediately recognized the special gift of salvation that she had been given, and she made sure to let everyone know that it was the greatest gift she had ever received.  She often described the undeniable peace that God had given her, regardless of her circumstances.  No matter what, she would say, “I thank you, Lord.”

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her son, Shannon Spaulding (Shelia) of Chadbourn, NC; daughter, Akeenya Bromell-Kearney (Keyth) of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Madison Spaulding, Zion Spaulding, Jaelon Kelly, and Torrean Gordon; father, Roy Norton; special son, Jaylan Staten; longtime friend, Genora Bellamy; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Locklear Norton, and her brothers, Rex Allen Norton, and James Thomas Hunt.

Services to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Union Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw, NC at 2:00 pm with Minister Preston Deal officiating.  Viewing will take place at the church from 1:00-1:45, prior to the service (family will not be present during this time).  Burial will follow in the Hammonds-Locklear Cemetery in Chadbourn, NC.

Linda will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
