Weather Update – Thursday October 24th, 2024

Good day, readers, Meteorologist Christopher Cawley here with the daily weather update for Thursday October 24, 2024.

We have the *SLIGHT* potential for some rain late Saturday night into Sunday as a cold front drops across the area. The latest modeling suggests there may be enough moisture with this to kick off a few showers. I don’t think this will be anything more than just enough to wet the ground, if even that.

Otherwise, the dry weather is likely to persist through all of next week.

The latest drought monitor, remarkably, does not show anything in our area even though we’ve only had a few drops of rain this entire month. That being said, it would probably be a good idea to watch water consumption and be careful with outdoor burning. Whatever we get Saturday night into Sunday won’t amount to more than a few hundredths of an inch, at most, and I think even that is a bit of a stretch.

Here’s your latest forecast graphic, and below that, the latest drought monitor report.

Tropics: There’s still nothing doing in the tropics over the next 7 days, per the National Hurricane Center. GFS continues to insist that a system develops south of Cuba on or around Halloween, but the NHC isn’t buying it, and none of the other global models are agreeing on it. Still, conditions in that area will become conducive to something developing IF all of the ingredients can come together.

Not a whole lot else to talk about tonight, so we will put a bow on it and wrap it up. Thank you for reading and, as always, take care!
