Ruth Ward Lee, age 98, of Morehead City, NC (formerly of Whiteville) passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Crystal Coast Hospice House. Ruth was born on May 27, 1926 to the late Charlie Flowers Ward and Ellen Ward.
Ruth Ward Lee, age 98, of Morehead City, NC (Formerly of Whiteville, NC) passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, Morehead City. Ruth was born on May 27, 1926 in Columbus County to the late Charlie Flowers Ward and Orrie Ellen Ward. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; James Odell Lee, and her 9 siblings.
Ruth grew up on a farm in Nakina, NC and was a 1943 Old Dock School graduate. After graduating she moved to Whiteville and worked as a legal secretary at the attorney office of Powell & Powell. She then worked as a District Manager for AVON until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she participated in much service work. Ruth also volunteered at Columbus Regional Medical Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Vada Lee Couch of Morehead City, NC, her grandson; Lee Couch (Lisa) also of Morehead City, her great grandson; Zach Couch of Fredericksburg, Va, and a sister; Annie Sasser (age 101) of Elizabethtown, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 am in Columbus Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Speight officiating.
