Clay Carlton Hagood departed this life on December 13, 2024 and went to be with his heavenly father at the age of 51. He was born November 20, 1973 in Robeson County.
Clay loved his children, family, Law Enforcement, serving his community and his brothers in blue. He also loved hunting and fishing, as well as being an excellent marksman. He worked many years in law enforcement, beginning his career as an auxiliary officer in 1994 with Fair Bluff Police Department. Moving to Whiteville Police Department in 1996 where he was eventually labeled as “Top Cop” and reaching the rank of Lieutenant before leaving in 2016. He later went to Columbus County Sheriff’s department and eventually to Tabor City Police Department until his retirement in 2022.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother, Iris Sasser. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Carla and Jimmy Moody of Hallsboro and James and Betty Hagood of Delco. Fiancé Valecia Jacobs of Buckhead; Grandfather, Eugene Sasser of Hallsboro. Four children, Hali Enzor (Joe) of Nakina, Hunter Hagood, Caden Hagood and Chloe Hagood of Brunswick. Two Grandchildren, Parker Enzor and Kambriegh Ayers. Sisters Mary Jo Craven of Hallsboro. Step-Sister, Amanda Stephens (Emory) of Florence, SC. Step-Brother Chad Moody (Tonya) of Darlington, SC. Nephew, Noah Craven and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and his entire law enforcement family.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 2:00pm at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Scott Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pierce Cemetery.
