By Justin Williamson – Brews & Bites
I was driving over to an appointment late last August. The GPS led me down 76 West. I headed into the very familiar town of Fair Bluff, but what I found that day was a little exciting. Out by the road were balloons, streamers, welcome signs, dignitaries, folks taking pictures, the whole lot. Needless to say there was a buzz about the town. My curiosity was up and I had to go in and be nosey.
What I had stumbled upon was a grand opening for A Sweet Discovery, a new coffee and pastry shop. My first thought was, “Wow, that’s brave” but as I walked into the shop my mind was quickly changed from a negative view to one of encouragement and pride.
I felt very excited for our western county residents to have this option available. My heart swelled a little as I realized that we really needed this kind of thing here in ColCo.
I’ve told you guys that I love to talk about places were folks are trying to do good things and treat people well. This was so unexpected to find and just bizarre to drive up on. I was so glad I did.
I have been back to A Sweet Discovery several times as duty has taken me in that direction. Each time I have found something wonderful and tasty. Ms. Jessica is really doing a great job here in the new downtown Fair Bluff.
Her shop is bright and crisp with a modern look and design. Her clean and well-lit cases are filled with fritters, pastries, rolls, buns, cookies and cakes of all styles. Cheesecakes and bagels are offered with custom options for customers to peruse. She has something here for everyone, also offering gluten-free and special diet items upon request.
Coffee is one of my required items for life, so thankfully there’s now no problem to find good coffee here in Fair Bluff. Ms. Jessica is serving roasts by Methodical Coffee, a regional coffee shop based in South Carolina. I think it’s great that she is serving artisan roast instead of a possible cheaper option; it shows her attention to quality and detail. A full menu of signature coffee drinks and hot chocolates are served for every taste.
My daughter and I stopped in the other day to grab a snack and a chai-tea. We again found great personal service and smiles all around. Every visit so far has been friendly and of course tasty. The venue is clean and easy to get in and out of. There is parking available right beside the building. I have throw some kudos and say that the town of Fair Bluff is doing a great job in making itself much more attractive and accessible to visitors and new businesses.
I would rate A Sweet Discovery as a very solid 4/5 as they are nearing perfection in all available categories. Keep on doing a great job.
