July 20, 1939 ~ March 26, 2025 (age 85)
Pat O’Neil Coleman, age 85, of Lake Waccamaw, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Columbus Regional Healthcare, Whiteville. Pat was born on July 20, 1939 in Brunswick County to the late James Hubert Coleman, Sr. and Grace Phelps Coleman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Erma Coleman, a step daughter; Ellen Ward and a brother; James Hubert Coleman, Jr.
Pat served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at International Paper from 1971 until 2001.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Julie Anne Coleman Hathway of Tabor City and Ian Coleman (Jerri) of Whiteville, a step daughter; Gayle Lathom (Paul) of Charlotte, Grandchildren; Summer Love Watts, Triston Hathway, Shannon Duckworth, Hailey Lathom Abasiekong, Taylor Lathom, MaKenzie Branson, Great Grandchildren; Chelsey Duckworth McRae, David Duckworth, SuEllen Duckworth, Drake Duckworth, Jaydon Watts, Ryan Long, Grayson Long, River Cox, Natalie Cox, Brooke Cox, Sabre Cox, Velour Cox, Great Great Grandchildren; Beau Duckworth, Ryder Duckworth, Maddie Lathom, and James Lathom and a “chosen brother”; Robert (Camele) Stephens of Pender County.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw with Rev. John Beattie officiating.
