Thomas “Tommy” Ray Floyd

February 24, 1945 ~ April 18, 2025 (age 80)

Thomas Ray Floyd (Tommy), 80, of Whiteville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville, North Carolina.

Tommy was born on February 24, 1945 in Fair Bluff, NC to the late Steve Auty Floyd and Eunice Myers Floyd. He graduated from Fair Bluff High School in 1964. He was drafted into the Army and served 2 years in Korea. After coming home, he went into the work field and retired after 34 years from International Paper. Tommy was a man known for his chicken and pastry, integrity, heart of gold, kindness and love for people. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing Baseball and riding his Harley, but as he grew seasoned in years, he enjoyed his social hours for many years at Ivy’s Cafe in Whiteville, NC and Sunday lunch with his brother & sister Billy and Kathy.

Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Floyd Caines, a grandson, Collin Caines, and brothers, Billy Edward Floyd, Steve Auty Floyd, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Worthington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Willard McPherson will officiate .

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, at the funeral home.

He is survived by his sister, Kathy Floyd of Whiteville, NC, a son, Logan Floyd of the home, a daughter, Audrey Hoover (Frank) of Tabor City, NC, four grandchildren, Jacob Caines of Whiteville, NC, McKenzie Long (Nathan) of Clarendon, NC, Joseph Long, Jr. of Nakina, NC and Brooke Walters (Denver) of Nakina, NC, two great-grandchildren, Oliver Martinez and Leighton Walters, a special companion, Ladybug, who was his brother’s dog and a host of special friends who meant the world to him during his lifetime.
