Gambling revenues and payouts went down again in June, according to the state lottery commission.
Between June 1 and June 30, e-gamblers in North Carolina wagered $433,184,675 on sporting events, including paid and promotional wagers. From those wagers, account holders won $372,183,030.
Just over $562 million was wagered in May, resulting in $492 million in winnings. April betters spent $576 million, and won $525 million. Revenues for the state from egambling in May totaled just shy of $12 million.
In June, the gross wagering revenue for the state’s eight licensed sports wagering concerns totaled $58,071,308. After the 18 percent tax rate is applied, the estimated tax proceeds to the state for the month would be $10,452,835. This is the projected amount that the N.C. Department of Revenue will collect from sports wagering operators.
June’s revenue report completes fiscal year 2025 with a total of $6.4 billion wagered in North Carolina. From those bets, account holders won more than $5.9 billion. In FY25, the gross wagering revenue reported by licensed interactive sports wagering operators totaled more than $647 million.
After an 18 percent tax is applied to the gross wagering revenue, the state is projected to receive more than $116 million in proceeds. Gross wagering revenue is a total of amounts received from sports wagers less the amounts paid as winnings before any deductions for expenses, fees, or taxes.
