Whiteville DYB Teams Fall In Championship Games 

Whiteville AAA All Stars were Avery G=Harrelson, Kamari Stanley, Poppa Davis-Powell, Levi Price, Dawson Soles, Easton Spivey, Corbin Mullins, Ryder Faircloth, Landen Singletary, Harrison Storms, and Bentley Blackwell. Coaches (back row) were Robert Mullins, Phillip Spivey and Brooks Blackwell.
Whiteville Majors All Stars players include Abel Ezzell, Blaine Soles, Carter Creech, Sam Merritt, Chaytum Rhodes, Mason Benton; Eli Memory, Liam Wachter, Connor Tedder, Michael Mitchell, Aiden Everette. Coaches were Isaac Ezzell, Jonathan Soles, and Brandon Mitchell.

Whiteville DYB teams had an opportunity Thursday to claim a state championship but both teams fell short.

Whiteville AAA lost to Shallotte 9-8, while the Majors were defeated 5-2 by South Brunswick.

The Whiteville AAA All-Stars lost in a wild one. Up 8-0 in the sixth, Shallotte came back to tie it up 8-8, with eight walks and three hits. In the eigth inning, Shallotte scored the winning run on a HBP with the bases loaded for the 9-8 final. Corben Mullins had three hits and two RBI’s while Eason Spivey was 2-3 to lead Whiteville AAA. Bentley Blackwell and Harrison Storms also had two RBI’s each.

 

In the Majors game, Whiteville out hit South Brunswick 6-4 but fell short on the scoreboard 5-2. Carter Creech and Aiden Everette led the Majors with two hits apiece. Chaytum Rhodes started on the mound for Whiteville giving up three runs on three hits, walking four and striking out eight.

Thursday’s play concluded the season for both squads.
