East Bladen’s Ward Named To East-West All-Star Game

East Bladen’s Nene Ward was named to play in the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star game in Greensboro on July 21.

Ward was named Waccamaw Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025 while achieving all conference both those seasons. Ward averaged 17 points but she also averaged an amazing five steals a game during her career. She will continue her career at Wake Tech Community College in the fall. She was also second team all-conference in soccer her senior year.

Ward, a point guard, was as a catalyst in leading the Lady Eagles to the 1A Eastern Finals against East Columbus her junior year and her senior year to a 84-48 loss to Cherokee in the 1A State Championship game. She plans to study nursing while attending Wake Tech.
