Mary Pridgen Edwards, 90, passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Roscoe Edwards, at her side, on August 10, 2025. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Born in Macclesfield to Charles and Bettie Pridgen on May 17, 1935. She was one of fourteen children. She worked for United Carolina Bank in Whiteville until her retirement. She was just as busy after retirement. She loved the ladies of her Circle and Sunday School class at Western Prong Baptist Church. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, visiting home bound friends in her community, and sending heartfelt cards to many. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit family members and grandchildren every chance she could. She always saw the good in others.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 15th, at Western Prong Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service. Peacock Funeral Home of Whiteville is serving the family.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Roscoe Edwards; daughters, Cathy Williams (JR), Connie Baker, and her bonus daughter, Debbie Fisher; her sisters, Judy Brown (Charles) and Donnie Jones, her brother, Roger Pridgen (Nita). Her beloved grandchildren, Jamie and Ryan (Deedee) Harrell, Jason Beck, Kaylan Edwards (James), Caroline Fisher, Asha and Dillon Kalyan, and twelve great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Landyn, Ashlynne, Sydney, Landon, Lennon, Brilynn, River, Addison, Laney, Avery, Myles and Ellis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Milton, Charles, Phillip, Ray, and Tim Pridgen, and sisters, Ida Faye Gaynor, Mabel Weaver, Rebecca Powell, Loretta Maddrey, her son, Tommy Baker, and her granddaughter, Kristen Harrell. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff of Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Richard Flemming, faithful caregivers, and many dear friends. Special thank you for the years of friendship to Mrs. Maxine Jordan, Mrs. Clara Vaughan White, and Mrs. Lou Hooks.
