Here’s today’s Bottom Line
High pressure extending southward from southern Quebec through West Virginia today will drift southward to become centered over the NC/TN border area by Sunday… to essentially over central NC by Tuesday and Wednesday.
This will lead to persistent dry weather with generally a mix of sunshine and clouds each day, and very low rain chances through the entire forecast period.
The only fly in the ointment is that modeling suggests a bit of a low pressure area may develop to our north on Monday, which could produce some more cloudiness and maybe some light rain but it’s really too soon to tell. For right now I’m going with mostly sunny for the forecast.
I’ve tempered the big warmup that I originally expected into next week, keeping our highs generally right around seasonal normal values.
TROPICS: The NHC will be watching a tropical wave move off the western coast of Africa today. There could be some very slow development of this system over the next 5 days or so, so it bears watching. The NHC gives this a 30% chance for development through 7 days. Otherwise, there are no tropical threats to the Carolinas for the next 2 weeks.
