
West Brunswick got two goals early in the first half then cruised to victory in the second half Thursday as the Trojans beat South Columbus 7-0 in soccer.
Jereny Tapia led the Trojans with two goals and two assists. Melvin Bautista provided a goal and two assists while Anh Nguyen also chipped in a goal and two assists.
The Stallions fall to 1-8 on the season. They will go to Red Springs (5-4) on Sept. 22. West Brunswick record goes to 6-1 for the year. They will take on Laney (9-1) on Tuesday.
In Rose Hill, Union took down West Bladen in soccer 7-1. Diego Santos scored the only goal for the Knights with an assist from Jason Valasquez.
The Knights fall to 2-5-1 for the season. They will travel to Whiteville (2-6-1) on Wednesday in the conference opener for both squads.
Union goes to 6-3 on the season. They will take on Lakewood (1-7) on Monday.
