
In Elizabethtown, East Columbus got the best of East Bladen in volleyball 3-0. The Gators took the sets by 25-20, 25-22, and 25-10. Malia Graham led the Gators, now 5-1 in the Carolina Conference and 9-1 overall, with nine kills. They will host North Duplin (5-1, 9-3) in a key conference matchup on Thursday. The Eagles fall to 3-3 in the conference and 3-10 overall. They will go to Hobbton (5-1, 7-3) on September 23.
West Bladen took to the road on Tuesday to defeat Red Springs 3-0 in volleyball. The Knight won the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-7. The Knights (3-0, 9-1) were led by Kimberly Dowless with eight kills and Greer Pope with 19 assists. Makenna Thurman also contributed eight kills. West Bladen will host South Columbus (2-0, 6-6) on Thursday. Red Springs (0-2, 1-8) goes to Douglas Byrd (1-1, 1-2) on September 17.
Whiteville lost at Fairmont Tuesday 3-0. The Pack Netters fall 0-3 in the Southeastern Conference and 1-9 overall. They will travel to Red Springs (0-2, 1-9) on Sept. 18. Fairmont (1-2, 3-9) will go to South Brunswick (3-0, 7-4) on Thursday.
