East Bladen Girls 54, South Columbus 9

TABOR CITY—East Bladen continued to win big despite injuries as the Eagles crushed South Columbus 54-9 Wednesday night in girls’ basketball.

Ariel Cromartie had 11 points for the Eagles, who had three players in double figures scoring. The Eagles (6-1) jumped out on the Stallions 31-7 at the half and never looked back. It was East Bladen’s second straight blowout victory.

It was also the second straight game that the Stallions failed to score in double digits. Aaliyah Monroe scored 14 points and Sana’a Singletary also added 10 points in the victory. The Eagles travel to Whiteville (1-4) on Friday. South Columbus (2-3) will host Aynor, S.C. (5-0) on Dec. 18.

Whiteville Girls 53, West Columbus 25

CERRO GORDO –– Whiteville girls fought off a tough Vikings team early to defeat West Columbus Tuesday night 53-25. The Vikings led 10-9 with 2:50 left in the first when the Wolfpack went on a 11-2 run into the second quarter to take a 20-12 advantage with 4:01 left in the second quarter.

The Lady Vikings never recovered. Whiteville took a 26-14 lead into halftime and stretched it to 40-18 at the end of the third period. The Wolfpack bench played the rest of the game to cruise to the 53-25 victory. The Wolfpack moves to 1-4 on the season with the win. West Columbus falls to 0-4 on the year.
