Wanice McKinley Hewett, age 73, of Leland, NC, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 in his home.
Born May 18, 1952 in Bladen County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Clayton Hewett and Carol Lee Smith Hewett.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lee Parker Hewett of the home; three sons, Wanice Clayton Hewett, Travis McKinley Hewett, and Caleb Ryun Hewett, all of Leland, NC; five grandchildren, Gregory Tedder, Clayton “CJ” Hewett, Robert Hewett, Hunter Watson, and Jewel Hewett; and four siblings, Marcia H. Creech of Leland, NC, Karen H. Roberts (Dale) of Leland, Terry L. Hewett (Anita) of Delco, NC, and Darryl K. Hewett (Cathy) of Leland, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Briana Renee Hewett; and two brothers, Lewis Phillip Hewett and Clayton Wayne Hewett.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 12:00 PM in the Leland Community Park, 1490 Village Road NE, Leland, NC.
