ELIZABETHTOWN—Keyshawn Kemp poured in 21 points to lead East Bladen boys past Hobbton 65-56 in the first round of the Carolina Conference Basketball Tournament on Monday night.
East Bladen (8-15) trailed by 11 early on the second period but recovered to tie the game at the half 27-27. Landyn Scott added 15 points in the victory. The Eagles will take on East Columbus (11-9) Wednesday at Union High School. Hobbton was led by Richard Simpson with 19 points and seven rebounds. Hobbton falls to 6-15 on the year and are on the outside looking in for a post season playoff berth.

ELIZABETHTOWN-East Bladen girls jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead and cruised to 68-30 victory over Union in the first round of the Carolina Conference Tournament on Monday night.
The Eagles (18-6) were led by Ariel Cromartie with 19 points and Sana’a Singletary, who contributed 14 points and 19 rebound in the victory. East Bladen is scheduled to play East Columbus (15-5) on Wednesday at Union. Makayla Hall led the Spartans with 12 points and teammate Centavia McKoy contributed 11 points in the loss. Union falls to 10-12 on the season and await the 2A playoff pairings to be announced this weekend.
