Softball Roundup for April 20: ECHS Takes Twin Bill; Knights Unbeaten in SAC Play

EAST COLUMBUS 7, ASHLEY 2 in Game 1; EAST COLUMBUS 13 ASHLEY 2 in Game 2

EAST COLUMBUS–Jenna King hit a home run and knocked in four runs as the Gators defeated Ashley in the first game of a double header 7-2 on Friday.

Mackenzi Clemmons had two RBI’s on two hits also for East Columbus. In the second game, Aheigh Godwin had three RBI’s on two hits as East Columbus crushed Ashley 13-2 in the second game of the doubleheader. Kamora Bryant knocked in three runs on two hits also in the victory. East Columbus (14-5) will host West Brunswick (13-5) on Tuesday.

RED SPRINGS—West Bladen pounded out 19 hits to crush Red Springs 16-1 in softball on Friday night.

Allison Hickman led the Knights’ attack with three hits and three runs batted in for the win. Breanna Hester had three hits and three RBI’s also for the Knights.

West Bladen has now won six in a row to stay unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play at 6-0. Red Springs (0-6, 6-10) will host Whiteville (0-6, 0-11) on a doubleheader on Tuesday.
