In Tabor City, South Columbus remained unbeaten as they rallied to defeat Heide Trask 3-2 in volleyball on Monday.
The Stallions fought a hard see-saw battle in the first game, losing 23-25. South Columbus responded by winning the next two games 25-21 and 25-20.
The Stallions won the fifth and decisive game 15-8 behind the strong play of senior Brianna Price, who showed up on both sides of the net.
South Columbus will travel to Green Sea Floyd today (Aug. 25) for their next match. Heide Trask (1-6) will go to Leland to take North Brunswick (3-1).
In Dublin, West Bladen pushed their record to 2-1 as they defeated the Vikings of West Columbus 3-1. Vera Valentiner knocked down nine aces and Bristol Allen contributed eight aces in the victory.
West Bladen defeated the Vikings by scores of 25-27, 25-7, 25-13, and 25-15. The Vikings (0-2) will host Union (0-3) in a match today, while West Bladen will face county rival East Bladen (3-2) in Elizabethtown.
In Elizabethtown on Monday, the Eagles beat the Pack 3-1. The Eagles defeated Whiteville by scores of 24-26, 25-18, 25-12, and 25-13. Taylor Dowless led the attack with 13 kills and four aces for the Eagles.
East Bladen (3-2) will host West Bladen (2-1) today. Whiteville (0-6) will host West Brunswick (1-4) on Wednesday.
