Work is continuing on the roundabout at Lee, Franklin and Madison streets in Whiteville, and the project should be finished in October.
The N.C. Dept. of Transportation said on X that the concrete truck apron, interior curb and gutter have all been poured, along with most of the sidewalk. Traffic is still detoured, with motorists heading into downtown directed to Franklin, and ouy of the downtown area onto Lee. Madison remains closed to through traffic at the project.
The roundabout replaces the traffic light-controlled four-way intersection.
Motorists are reminded to slow down, observe the flaggers, pylons and signs and use caution in the construction zone.
