DUBLIN–West Bladen officials announced Thursday that the staggering has decided to end its varsity football season.
School officials and the coaching staff came to the difficult decision due to recent injuries, low numbers of remaining players, and safety concerns. The Knights will continue with a JV team the remainder of the year.
Oct. 2 was supposed to be a home game against Whiteville with a Tackle Out Cancer fundraiser event. Special guests for the game were the Golden Knights Parachute Team.
West Bladen football has struggled throughout its 26 years of history with only a few winning seasons. Their last winning season came in 2014 when the Knights went 6-5.
