Raymond Hammonds age 80 of Chadbourn, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at his home.
Raymond was the son of the late Leslie Jim Hammonds and Mamie Ruth Smith Hammonds. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann Strickland Hammonds who preceded him in 2012. He was also preceded in death by six siblings, Velton Hammonds, Alton Hammonds, Wilford Hammonds, Martha Crockrell, Mary Evans, Ruby H. Wiant; and a son, Anthony Ray “Tony” Hammond in 2002.
Raymond was a member of Cherokee Chapel Baptist Church and retired from the Columbus County School System in the maintenance area.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the Hammond’s Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home. (prior to the service)
He is survived by his daughter, Anissa Hammonds Mckoy (Bobby) of Chadbourn; three siblings, Hilda Hammonds Sugg of Annapolis, MD, Johnny Hammonds (Monica) of Charleson and Leslie Hammonds, Jr. (Virginia); six grandchildren, Aja Hammonds, Alex Mckoy, Dani McKoy, Julie McKoy, Lyrix McKoy and Anthony McKoy.
Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family.
