Norwood was a member of Mishop Springs United Methodist Church.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and wonderful friend to many.  He loved  reading western novels, gardening, and spending time with family and friends eating good food.  His Army Reserve family always held a special place in his heart.  He will be dearly missed by his family that he loved, nurtured, and cherished.

Mr. Bowen honorably served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired with 38 years of service in 1994 as a First Sergeant. In addition to his service in the military, Norwood was employed by Federal Paper/International Paper in Riegelwood for 25 years retiring at the age of 65.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Linda B. Jablonowski of Chadbourn, Dr. Teresa B. Melvin (Greg) of Mooresville and Robbin B. Simmons (Ricky) of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Carmen Melvin, Alison Melvin, and Cas Bowen; and his beloved pets, Roy, Pippi, and Flossie.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Tally Bowen, Marthella Benjamin, Dr. Henry Traylor and staff, and Liberty Hospice.
