NFL: Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will not play in week 18. Baker announced that he will need shoulder surgery and plans to have the procedure as soon as possible. 

Matchups for Week 18

No Thursday or Monday night matchups this week, but there are two Saturday games. 

Saturday: 

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to the Denver Broncos at 4:30pm on ESPN. 

The Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:25pm on ESPN. 

Sunday: 

The Carolina Panthers will be on the road in Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers at 4:25pm.  

Steelers at the Ravens 1pm 

Bengals at the Browns 1pm 

Washington at the Giants 1pm 

Bears at the Vikings 1pm 

Colts at the Jaguars 1pm 

Packers at the Lions 1pm 

Titans at the Texans 1pm 

Jets at the Bills 4:25pm

NBA: The Hornets are back home tonight, they host the Detroit Pistons at the Spectrum Center at 7pm. 

Kyrie Irving returns to the floor tonight for the Brooklyn Nets. He will only be available for road games. Irving is not vaccinated, and New York States’ Covid-19 regulations have kept Kyrie off the floor all season. The Nets recently agreed to bring Kyrie back due to a depleted line up and the upcoming playoff push. 

Around the rest of the NBA last night: 

Spurs lost to the Raptors 129-104 

Grizzlies over the Cavaliers 110-106 

Knicks beat the Pacers 104-94 

Pelicans lost to the Suns 123-110 

The Lakers beat the Kings 122-114. LeBron James played center and led all scorers with 31 points. Dwight Howard had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 30 points, 

 

NHL: The Hurricanes are back in action tomorrow night at 7pm in the PNC Arena. Carolina will host the Calgary Flames. 

8 games last night. Two games were postponed, the Seatle Kraken versus the Islanders and the Capitals at the Canadians.  

Last Night’s Scores: 

Bruins 5-3 defeats the Devils. 

Panthers 6-2 over the Flames. 

Lightning win 7-2 against the Blue Jackets 

Red Wings 6-2 over the Sharks 

Avalanche over the Blackhawks 4-3 

Jets defeat the Coyotes 3-1 

Flyers lost to the Ducks 4-1 

Predators beat the Golden Knights 3-2 

Oilers will face the Maple Leafs tonight in Toronto at 7pm. 

St. Louis goes into Pittsburgh tonight, puck drops at 7:30pm. 

Tonight’s Islanders and Canucks game has been postponed. 

NCAA:

Men’s Football:

The Texas Bowl The Kansas State Wildcats defeated the LSU Tigers 42-20.  

The National Championship Game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Jan 10. Number one ranked Alabama Crimson tide will face the number three ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Both teams have a 13-1 record. The Bulldogs only loss of the season was Dec 4, 2021. That game was a 41-24 loss to Alabama. 

Men’s Basketball 

The Wolfpack of North Carolina State got the unexpected win against Virginia Tech last night 68-63. Dereon Seabron was the start of the game for the Wolfpack. Seabron had a double-double, with a game high 21 points and 10 rebounds, he also added 3 assists. 

Wake Forrest Demon Deacons dominated Florida State 76-54. Khadim Sy had a double-double for the Deacons with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jake LaRavia led Wake Forrest, and the game, in scoring and assists. Jake had 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. 

Duke was back in action last night and made it look easy against Georgia Tech, taking care of business 69-57. Paolo Banchero had himself a double-double, scoring the team’s high 17 points, with 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Michael Devoe led all scorers and the Yellow Jackets with 21 points, he also had 7 rebounds and 2 assists. 

Tonight’s Action: 

East Carolina will host Tulane at 7pm 

UNC Ashville is on the road at Campbell at 7pm 

North Carolina A & T Aggies will host Presbyterian at 7pm 

North Carolina Tarheels will face Norte Dame tonight at 9p on ESPN2 

North Carolina- Wilmington versus Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic Christian against North Carolina Central games today have been postponed. 


LOCAL SPORTS: 

Varsity Boys Basketball

The East Columbus Gators got the win yesterday in the swamp ,57-43, against Wilmington Christian Academy 

The West Brunswick Trojans are going to West Columbus tonight to face the Knights. Tip-off is 7:30pm 

The Whiteville Wolfpack is back in action tomorrow afternoon at 4pm, they are on the road in Fairmont. 

West Columbus goes into East Bladen tomorrow with a scheduled 6pm tip-off. 

East Columbus travels to South Brunswick tomorrow. 7:30pm is the scheduled start time. 

South Columbus returns to action on Jan 11 against the Pender Patriots. The Stallions are 0-13 and look to get their first win of the season against a 1-3 Pender team. 


Girls Varsity Basketball 

The Lady Gators won 46-24 over Wilmington Christian Academy yesterday. East Columbus hosts a determined, 0-8, Red Springs today at 5pm. 

The West Brunswick Lady Trojans will travel to face the West Columbus Lady Vikings today at 6pm. 

The Lady Wolfpack of Whiteville are back in action tomorrow. Tip-off will be at 6pm in Fairmont. 

The 10-0 East Bladen Lady Eagles will also be in action tomorrow against the 0-5 Lady Vikings of West Columbus at 6pm. 

East Columbus and South Brunswick Lady Cougars wrap up tomorrow evenings action at 6pm.
