Olympics:  The opening ceremonies are tonight on NBC. Curling, women’s hockey, ski jumping, and ice dancing events have already started.  


NBA:  The trade deadline is approaching fast. There should be some interesting move starting to happen around the league. The deadline is Feb 10. 

The NBA All-Star captains are once again Lebron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The players are being randomly announced throughout this weekend. 

Legendary Hall of Fame coach of the Boston Celtics Bill Fitch passed away at the age of 89. 

Last Night:  Timberwolves beat the Pistons 128-117 

Heat defeats the Spurs 112-95. Jimmy Butler named to this year’s All-Star team. 

Suns winning streak ends at 11 games as the Hawks win 124-115 

Raptors lost to the Bulls 127-120 

In the Battle of Staples Center the Clippers end up on top 111-110, as Anthony Davis misses a buzzer beater for the Lakers. Davis finished with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Marcus Morris Sr led the Clippers with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Paul George is expected to miss another 4-6 weeks and it is doubtful that Kawai Leonard will be back this season from his torn ACL, according to Tyrone Lue, the head coach of the Clippers. 

Kings versus the Warriors 126-114 

Tonight:  The Cavaliers are in Charlotte tonight to face the Hornets. The tip-off is at 7pm in the Spectrum Center. NBA-TV. The Hornets are 28-24 sitting in second place in the Southeast division and eighth in the Eastern Conference. 

Bulls and Pacers 7pm 

Celtics and Pistons 7pm 

Hawks versus the Raptors 7:30pm 

Spurs host the Rockets 8:30pm 

Pelicans face the Nuggets 9pm 

The Nets stay on the west coast to take on the Jazz at 9pm 

The 76ers and Mavericks 10pm 


NHL: The All-Star skills competition is tonight on ESPN, at 7:30pm. The NHL All-Star game is Feb 5, in Paradise, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena. The home of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the game is at 3pm on ABC.  

The Hurricanes are back after the All-Star break on the ice Feb 7 in Toronto. 


NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday:  Western Kentucky beats Charlotte 78-59 

North Carolina A & T lost at Winthrop 64-54 

North Carolina-Wilmington falls to Elon 78-65 

Carolina Coastal and Texas-Arlington was canceled. 

Tonight:  Western Carolina at Virginia Military 6pm 

Saturday:  The Coach K “Curtain Call Tour” makes its last stop in North Carolina tonight as Coach Mike Krzyzewski travels down Tobacco Road to face the Tar Heels at 6pm on ESPN for first place in the ACC.

NFL:  The Pro-Bowl is Sunday at noon in Las Vegas in Allegiant Stadium. 

Super Bowl LVI (56) is Feb 13 at 6:30pm, in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium. 

Doug Peterson has been hired as the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles when they won Super Bowl LII in 2017 against the then defending Champions New England Patriots. 

The New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins have denied the accusations placed forth by former Dolphin head coach Brian Flores. Brian Flores was let go after two winning seasons in Miami. 

Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Commanders, faces sexual misconduct charges and the proceedings started yesterday when former cheerleaders took the stand for the prosecution.
