Olympics:  Nathan Chen (USA) sets the world’s record (113.97) in the Figure Skating short program and sits in front for the gold as the event continues. 

Canada beat USA in woman’s hockey 4-2. USA outshot Canada 53-27 

Bronze medal for Jessie Diggins in cross-country freestyle sprint. 

Ryan Cochran-Seigal won a Silver Medal in the Men’s Super-G. 0.04 seconds separated him from the Gold. 


MLB:  Major League Baseball will stop testing players for steroids, this is the first time in 20 years they will not be testing for the substance. This is a move by the MLB to soften the Players Union to a new upcoming deal. This could also ease the way for steroid banned players to get into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. 

Umpire Joe West retires after 5,460 games umpiring games. The 69-year-old holds the record for umpire appearances in Major League baseball. 


NBA:  The trade deadline is Thursday. 

Pelicans get PJ McCollum, Larry Nance, and Tony Snell in a trade with the Trail Blazers for Josh Hart and future draft picks. 

Yesterday:  Raptors beat the Hornets 116-101. Six straight for Toronto. Pascal Siakam led the Raptors with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Miles Bridges was the high scorer for the Hornets with 25 points. P.J. Washington grabbed 9 boards and had 15 points and LaMelo Ball finished with 15 points and 9 assists. Charlotte is 28-27 and they are back at it tonight hosting the Bulls at 7pm in the Spectrum Center. 

The Heat defeated the Wizards 121-100. Bam Adebayo led the Heat in points and rebounds with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Jimmy Butler finished with 19 points and Kyle Lowry had 11 points for Miami. 

Suns burn the Bulls 127-124. Phoenix is the league leading 21-5 on the road and has won their last nine games. Devin Booker finished with 38 for the Suns. DeRozen ends the game with 38 points for the Bulls. 

Thunder falls to the Warriors 110-98. Clay Thompson 21 points and has scored double digits in all his games since his return. 

The Knicks lost to the Jazz 113-104.

Pacers and the Hawks 7:30pm

NHL Yesterday: 

The Hurricanes lost 4-3 to the Maple Leafs in overtime. Derek Stepan, Nino Neiderreiter and Tony DeAngelo scored for the Hurricanes. They are back on the ice tonight in Ottawa to face the Senators at 7pm. 

Devils lost to the Senators 4-1

NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday:  UNC-Wilmington lost at Hofstra 73-71 

Charlotte travels beats Florida-International 81-68 

Virginia hits a last second shot to upset Duke 69-68. Duke had 15 turnovers. Paolo Banchero finished with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Mark Williams had 16 points for the Blue Devils. Jayden Gardner led Virginia with 17 points and 8 rebounds. 

UNC Greensboro takes down Western Carolina 68-49 

Tonight:  North Carolina Tar Heels are in Clemson 7pm ACC Network 

East Carolina at Tulsa 8pm 

NFL:  Lovie Smith is hired as the new head coach for the Tennessee Titans. Smith was the previous head coach for the Bears and the Raiders. He was the Associate Head Coach last season for the Titans. 

Dennis Miller is hired as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, he has been with the Saints the past six seasons as their Defensive Coordinator.

Whiteville Wolfpack multi-sport superstar, Shaheem Shipman, signs with UNC-Pembroke to play football next season. Shipman ran for 1,234 yards and 17 touchdowns for Whiteville last season. Shipman was the Conference Player of the Year and earned the All-Conference nod as well. Shaheem also plays basketball and runs track. 

Practice is already underway for the upcoming tennis, softball, and baseball seasons in Columbus County.
