Mr. Benny Earl Malpass, 79, of Delco passed away on March 16, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilimington, NC. He was born on July 8, 1942 in Columbus County, the son of the late Bennie C. Malpass and Thelma Long Malpass.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years and best friend, Joyce Little Malpass; daughter, Cheryl Malpass of Delco; son, Kenneth Malpass and wife, Teresa of Bolton; daughter, Dr. Gloria Malpass of Winston-Salem; son, Gregory Malpass and wife, Christy of Delco; and daughter, Sabrina Griffin and husband, Michael of Angier; grandchildren, Nikki and Christopher Beck, Brooke Gause and husband, Ryan, Blair Wayne and husband, Forrest, Malachi Malpass, Mariah Strickland and husband Zachary and Carrie Malpass; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Malpass Mills; brothers, Jimmy Malpass and wife, Marie, Jesse Malpass and Calvin Malpass and wife, Myra, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a special great-granddaughter, Chansley Anne Wayne and a sister, Louise Malpass Mills.

Earl earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Wilmington College. A millwright by trade, he retired from Mundy Maintenance in 2007. He enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, baseball, basketball and bicycle rides. A longtime active member of Red Hill Pentecostal Church who enjoyed spending time with children, he organized annual bike-a-thons and designed and taught crafts in Vacation Bible School. A man of strong Christian faith, he wanted everyone to know that Jesus love you.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Dean Karras, Dr. John Rommel and the staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for Earl’s excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society

His visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Red Hill Pentecostal Church, 1383 Byrdville-Freeman Rd., Delco, NC 28436.

His funeral service will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Red Hill Pentecostal Church with Rev. Calvin Malpass officiating. Burial will follow in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, 1013 James B White Hwy N. Whiteville, NC 28472.
