The world lost a great man on May 27th, 2022. Chip Singletary crossed over to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Florence, SC on December 4th, 1954. Chip was a resident of the small town of Fair Bluff, which he loved.
He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. Chip was a devoted member and former deacon of Fair Bluff Baptist Church. He was a farmer, tree removal expert, and chainsaw master. His hobbies included camping, boating on the river, wood working, cooking, seeing live music, and he could make the best homemade ice cream you’ve ever had. Above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family making them laugh.
Chip is survived by his mother Patsy Meares Singletary of Salisbury, NC; daughters Autumn Simmons and husband Davy of Tabor City, NC, Natalie Singletary and fiancé Cameron Martin of Wilmington, NC; stepsons David Polston of Clarendon, NC and Billy Polston of Tabor City, NC. His “Favorite Ex Wife” and best of friend, Becky Singletary (this is how he hilariously introduced her). Also surviving are grandchildren Rylee Godwin, Bryson Godwin, Drake Simmons, Kaylei Simmons, Cameron Polston and Colton Polston; sisters Suzan Dabbs and husband John of Concord, NC and Robyn Singletary of Albemarle, NC; brother-in-law Gary Dick; and Aunt Connie Meares.
He is preceded in death by his father Norman Ivey Singletary Sr.; sister AnDe Dick, and an uncle Butch Meares.
