Carolyn Y. Bordeaux of Delco, NC left her earthly life surrounded by family at her side, to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 18, 1948 the daughter of the late James L. Yopp and Marjorie Y. Pearson and her late step-father Capt. Wallace F. Pearson (WFD). In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Wayne Bordeaux and a brother, Wayne Yopp.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Gore and her husband, Keith, William Bordeaux and his wife, Michelle, Lynn Spohn and her husband, Ted all of Delco, NC; her grandchildren, John Gore (Jessica), Michael Gore (Tamarra), Cassie Gainer (Eric), RobertSpohn (Jennifer), Baylee Bordeaux (Hunter) and Hana Brady (Lee); fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Yopp (Wanda) and Jimmy Yopp (Mary) of Wilmington, NC; two sister-in-laws, Catherine Sandlin and Barbara Bordeaux of Delco, NC and numerous cousins.

She had worked as the head cook at Roberta’s Restaurant in Delco, NC for many years and also as head cook at Park Avenue School in Wilmington, NC for several years.

Mrs. Bordeaux was a loving, kind-hearted and devoted Mama and Grandma to her entire family in many ways. Her passion was cooking large meals for them, making certain that she prepared each of her children, their spouses and grandchildren at least one of their “favorite” foods. When she cooked for those special occasions, she was even extended an invite to other family members besides her immediate.

She also loved vegetable gardening (especially alongside her late husband) and when veggies were grown and ready to be harvested, she’d start up her process of canning and freezing all those “home grown” foods. She would finish with her canning and all then go to her Mama’s in Wilmington to help do a little of the same with her small garden.

The greatest joy of her life was loving, giving and doing for her family! It’s been said by someone that “she had a heart of gold.”

The family will receive friends at the home of Lynn and Ted Spohn, 6399 Livingston Chapel Rd, Delco, NC.

Her visitation will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Prosper Baptist Church, Delco, NC.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Prosper Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Prosper Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews, Kendall Yopp, James Yopp, Eric Yopp, Wallace Yopp, Grady Yopp, J.L Yopp and Jake Baker.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to Community Home Health and Hospice. A very special thank you to her RN, Jessica Maultsby and her CNA, Carlene, each were so compassionate to their Mama and gave wonderful care to her. The family would also like to say thank you to their cousin Donna Jo Reeves for her love and assistance in helping take care of their mama.
