Lessie Mae Jackson Brown, age 79, of Greensboro and formerly of Chadbourn entered into the joys of the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family in Greensboro, North Carolina.  

Lessie Mae Jackson Brown, the daughter of the late Odell Jackson and Hattie Oliver, was born on November 16, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Calvin Brown; a son Baby Boy Brown; a sister Isadel McClelland(Clarence); three brothers William Lee Jackson (Vera), O’Neil Jackson (Louise), and Odell Jackson, Jr. (Mary); a granddaughter Krystal Symone Lathon; and a great-grandson Mark Anthony McCray Jr. 

She was an active and longstanding member of St Paul Holiness Church in Chadbourn, NC, until her health failed and she moved to Greensboro to live with her daughter. 

A viewing will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Friday, July 8, 2022, at D&A Funeral Services Chapel, 212 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn, NC 28431.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Mary’s Baptist Church, 17798 Old U.S. 74, Evergreen, NC 28438 with Pastor Ruthlene Freeman  officiating.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Community Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, four daughters Vickie Brown, Angela Lathon(Ted), Katherine Brown, and Stacey Leggett(Clayton); two stepsons Garry McCray(Tamika) and Jeffrey McCray; one sister Vivian Ellis(Ken); fourteen grandchildren Calvin Boatwright, Lessie Essex, La Jeffery McCray, Shane Johnson, Tamika Brown, Jerome Essex, Garry McCray Jr., Jordan Leggett, Mark McCray, Trevor Leggett, Bontreal, Shanita, Tyree, and Tamisha; twenty-one great grandchildren, including a very special grand, her “Moni-Boo,” Imani Essex, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
