You may have already noticed fall decorations gracing store shelves, and it won’t be long before Santa comes to town. Until then, it’s time to golf for a good cause.
The Columbus Baptist Association holds a golf tournament to raise money for their Toy Store ministry each year.
This Saturday, Aug. 27, the Union Valley Baptist Church will join in their efforts by having an auction fundraiser to support the cause. The event is from from 7-10 p.m.
The Toy Store helps parents and grandparents to afford to buy gifts for their children and grandchildren. The organization shops for toys, and then sells them to guardians referred to the CBA for dimes on the dollar.
New items, homemade items, crafts, and more will be up for auction. Items will be posted online two to three days ahead of time. The event will be streamed live on the Union Valley Baptist Church Facebook page, however, the church strongly encourages in-person participation to receive the items you would like to bid on for yourself.
The CBA Toy Store golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept.10, at Land-O-Lakes Golf Course in Whiteville. The morning round will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The afternoon round will have registration at 12:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The cost is just $240 per four-man team ($60 per player), and two spots are still available for the afternoon round.
“This is the biggest fundraiser for the Toy Store ministry,” said CBA Missions Strategist Rev. Dave Heller. “Folks from all over the place, not just in Columbus County, come out to this event. We are grateful for the support.”
