Tabor Talk — Big Things Happen in a Small Town

March brings so many wonderful things! We have St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring, and Easter!  Pollen is everywhere already and our kids are beginning their spring sports season.  There’s lots for all to do!

We are always grateful when asked to serve as the Volunteer Bunny for our area’s Easter Egg Hunt. Columbus County Parks and Recreation is the sponsoring organization and they have set the date of Saturday, March 23 for Tabor City.

Please bring your kids out to Tabor City School for the Egg Hunt.  We plan to begin promptly at 10 a.m.  The Rain Date is March 30 at 10 a.m., same location.

Our Annual Bass Tournament will be held in mid-May.  The specific date is being determined.

The fourth Annual Spring Has Sprung Festival will be held the first Saturday in June which is June 1.  We are looking for all types of vendors, parade entries, and car show participants.  We will have entertainment, a KidsZone (featuring Flimsy the Clown) and much more.  Save the Date.

The 37th Annual Columbus County Fireworks Celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 2 at South Columbus High School. Let freedom ring with an evening of entertainment, concessions, and fireworks.

Please note that the ribbon cutting event of Brown Street Station located in Chadbourn, originally scheduled for March 16, will be rescheduled to a later date.  We’ll keep you posted.

The N.C. Yam Festival stays busy year-round working hard to offer phenomenal vendors, parade participants, a variety of local entertainment, and lots more. The Yam Festival has exciting news to share for this year’s big Yam Saturday on Oct. 26.

You will want to make sure you attend to enjoy The Pink Slips Band.  Their stage will be in the middle of all the vendor activity on Hickman Road.  Look for them in front of United Bank.  Bleacher seating will be limited, so feel free to bring a lawn chair.

The Yam Fest has an office in the Chamber building. That phone number is 910.377.3248 with an email address of [email protected].

Please know that our Chamber is your Chamber, so feel free to stop by our office located at 103-D East Fifth Street, give us a call at 910.377.3012, send us an email at [email protected], or contact us via our Facebook page.  Our days and hours of operation are Tuesday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
