Virginia Lewis Lane

March 18, 1932 ~ May 1, 2024 (age 92)

Virginia Lane went to her heavenly home on May 1, 2024.  She was 92 years old.  She was preceded in death by her husband Neal, her son Tommy, siblings Herman, Charles, Milton, Martha, and Georgia, and several grandchildren.

She is survived by children Roy (Lee), Neala (Roger), Nancy, Susie (Gary), Janice (Ron), Jeff (Becky), Jon (Alison), over thirty grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Virginia would readily tell you that she gave her heart to Jesus as a child and never looked back.  She leaves a legacy of lives she has touched – strangers at the hospital that she prayed with and comforted, in mission trips to Poland, Brazil, and elsewhere with the Columbus Baptist Association, in disaster relief in Alabama and locally, students and faculty at Acme-Delco High School where she worked for many years as an administrator, playing piano and organ at church, and serving God wherever He led.  She was a woman of great mental and physical fortitude, and considered it a blessing to be the caregiver for her husband and soul mate through the years prior to his passing.  She had the gift of writing, and authored many beautiful poems to commemorate the joys in her life.  She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a faithful friend, and a tireless servant of God.  She will be sorely missed on earth, but there is a great reunion in heaven.

The family gives special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, and for the wonderful caregivers Gloria Ledesma, Patty Malpass, and Judy Stallings.  The family also expresses great appreciation to the friends and neighbors at the Ransom Activity Center for their love, prayers, and friendship.

The family will receive friends at the home at 14900 Old Lake Road, Riegelwood, NC.  Visitation will be on Saturday, May 4, from 6 to 8 pm at the First Baptist Church of Delco.  A service will be held on Sunday, May 5, at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church of Delco, followed by interment at Weyman Cemetary.

McKenzie Mortuary, 112 Jefferson Street, Whiteville, NC is serving the Lane family.
