Deputies arrested a Clarendon man Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a woman then wanted to fight with law enforcement.
James Huggins, 18, was held under no bond on charges of second degree trespassing, underage consumption of alcohol, misdemeanor domestic violence, and two counts of communicating threats. His address was listed on jail records as 515 Todd Town Rd., Clarendon.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were called to 541 Todd Town Road after Huggins allegedly threatened Zoe Tyner, 18. Nathan Guyton called 911 after Huggins chased Tyner onto the Guyton property, then refused to leave. The report said an argument could be heard over the telephone.
Tyner told deputies that Huggins had brandished a knife and threatened to kill her. When she tried to call 911, the report said, Huggins took the phone way from the intended victims. Tyner managed to escape and ran to Guyton’s home just after 8 p.m. Even after being told repeatedly to leave, Huggins refused until he found out law enforcement was en route.
Deputies took Huggins into custody. While being processed, the report said Huggins said he “had consumed two fifths of alcohol” and “that was all he needed to fight all the deputies present,” the report said. Huggins also allegedly threatened to damage property within the jail.
