Mary Alice Sarvis Clewis, age 76, of Nakina passed on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (July 24, 2026) at the Clewis Family Cemetery located at 625 Long Corner Road, Whiteville, N.C. Rev. Jamie Ward will officiate the service.
She was the daughter of the late J.D. Sarvis and Lizzie Albertine Fipps Sarvis. She was the widow of Rev. Wadus Earl Clewis, who preceded her in 2008. She was also preceded by a son, William Daniel Clewis; two siblings, Jerry Sarvis and Roy Sarvis; and a granddaughter, Mazie Canady.
She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Clewis Rowe (Shawn) of Nakina and a son, Matthew Clewis (Lisa) of Whiteville; three siblings, Frank Sarvis (Rhonda) of Murphy; Marilyn Sarvis Ansbach of Nakina and Betty Sarvis Long (Rev. Russel Long) of Nakina; grandchildren, Justin McPherson, J.D. McPherson, Kayla McKeithan (Jonathan), Kevin Clewis (Brittany), David Clewis (Raven), Jacob Clewis (Allie), Shade Puckett; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Liam, Aubrie, Avery, Quinn, Casen, Guage, Faith, Peyton, Penelope, Jaxon, Brighton and Camille and many loving nieces and nephews.
