Clinton Crushes East Bladen

CLINTON—Clinton dished out 452 yards of offense Friday night as the Dark Horses ran past East Bladen 55-26 in football.

The Eagles started out strong as they struck first with a 50-yard run from Riley Collins to take an early 7-0 lead. Andrio Garcia added the extra point for East Bladen. Clinton retaliated quickly as they scored on the first play of the next drive with an Elijah Bryant to Jonah Boone pass from 52 yards away to tie the game at 7-7 with 8:42 left in the first period. Dustin Pike added the PAT.

Uriah Robinson added to the Dark Horses’ lead with a 19-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 14-7 with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter. Pike added the extra point. In the second quarter, Bryant found Bryson Monzingo from 34 yards away to push the Clinton advantage to 21-7 with 11:14 on the clock. Pike converted the PAT. Boone added another touchdown with 6:26 remaining in the second quarter to make it 28-7 Clinton with the Pike extra point.

After a Dark Horse interception, East Bladen’s Collins rushed for 36 yards to the house to cut the lead to 28-14 before the half. Garcia connected on the extra point. Gavin Miller ran a 40-yard touchdown in for Clinton with 6:04 remaining in the third quarter to make the lead 35-14 Dark Horses. Pike connected on the PAT.

Collins found the endzone from one yard away to cut the Clinton lead to 35-20. Robinson responded with a 63-yard run for a touchdown with 4:13 in the third quarter to extend the Dark Horses’ advantage to 41-20. Miller found the endzone again three minutes later to make the it 48-20.

Miller scored his third touchdown of the night with an eight-yard sprint to the endzone to push the lead to 55-20. Pike added the extra point. Joel Lewis scored late with a 68-yard touchdown run for East Bladen to make the final score Clinton 55, East Bladen 26.

Uriah Robinson rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Clinton on the night. Dark Horse quarterback Elijah Bryant thew two touchdown passes and for 155 yards. Riley Collins finished the night with 121 yards rushing and three touchdowns for East Bladen.

Clinton (3-1) will host unbeaten Whiteville (4-0) on Friday. East Bladen falls to 2-2 on the year. They will travel to Cerro Gordo on Friday to face West Columbus (1-2) in the Carolina Conference opener for both squads.
