Volleyball Roundup: Eagles Knights Undefeated in Conference

In Elizabethtown, East Bladen remained undefeated in Carolina Conference play as the Eagles downed Lakewood 3-1 on Thursday in volleyball. The Eagles won by scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-21.

Tenley Dowless led the attack with eight kills and teammate Keri Burgess added seven kills. Addison Douglas got 17 digs in the win.

East Bladen (5-0, 9-5) will host a strong South Columbus (11-1) team on Monday. Lakewood fell to 3-2 in the Carolina Conference and 5-7 on the season. The Leopards will face North Duplin (4-1, 7-3) in Salemburg on Tuesday.

In Fairmont, West Bladen downed the Tornadoes 3-0. The set scores were 25-14, 25-23, and 25-20. Greer Pope posted a phenomenal 30 kills in the match for the Knights.

West Bladen (2-0, 5-3) will travel to Cerro Gordo to face the Vikings (3-6) of West Columbus on Sept. 14. Fairmont (0-2, 3-6) will host Whiteville (0-2, 0-12) Sept. 15.

In Tabor City, South Columbus stayed hot as they defeated Red Springs 3-0 on Thursday. The Stallions are now 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference and 11-1 on the season.

Bella Smith pounded 11 aces for the Stallions and Bristol Parker had 11 digs in the victory.

South Columbus will travel to East Bladen (9-5) on Monday. Red Springs will visit West Bladen (2-0, 5-3) in Dublin on Tuesday.

In Newton Grove, East Columbus took care of business as the defeated the Hobbton Wildcats 3-1. The set scores were 25-19, 29-27, 23-25, and 25-15.

The Gators are now 3-2 in the Carolina Conference and 6-3 overall. Zannah Hairr had 15 kills in the loss for the Wildcats (0-5, 2-7).

East Columbus will host East Bladen (5-0, 9-5) in The Swamp on Tuesday while Hobbton will visit Union (0-5, 1-10).

In Calypso, North Duplin (4-1, 7-3) defeated West Columbus 3-0 in Carolina Conference play. North Duplin won by scores of 25-12, 25-20, and 25-16.

Maggie Brown had eight kills in the victory for the Rebels. The Rebels will travel to James Kenan (2-7) on Monday.

West Columbus (3-3, 3-6) will host West Bladen (9-5) on Thursday.

South Brunswick beat Whiteville 3-0 in Boiling Springs on Thursday. South Brunswick (2-0, 7-5) will host New Hanover (4-9) on Monday. The Pack (0-2, 0-12) will take on Fairmont (0-2, 3-6) in Whiteville on Tuesday.
