A water break near East Columbus High School has cancelled classes for the rest of the day and caused a boil water advisory for a large portion of the town’s water customers.
School officials said East Columbus Junior-Senior closed at noon due to the water break. Lake Waccamaw town officials said the leak near the 500 block of Old 74-76 has led to a boil water advisory due to a loss of pressure.
The affected area is from Little Wheel of Hope Church to Wananish Avenue and Fire Tower Road, including all side streets.
Water used for consumption should be boiled vigorously for one minute to kill any potential bacteria.
