Olympics: United States gets its first gold medal of the Beijing Games, Lindsey Jacobellis get it in Womens Snowboard Cross. The United States now has seven total medals: one gold, five silver and one bronze.
MLB: Umpire Joe West retires after 5,460 games umpiring games. The 69-year-old holds the record for umpire appearances in Major League baseball.
NBA: The trade deadline is Thursday.
Pelicans get PJ McCollum, Larry Nance, and Tony Snell in a trade with the Trail Blazers for Josh Hart and future draft picks.
Yesterday: Suns beat the 76ers 114-109. Devin Booker scored 35 points and Chris Paul gets 16 points and 12 assists for the Suns. Joel Embiid finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers.
Celtics take down the Nets 126-91. Six wins in a row for the Celtics and 9 losses in a row for the Nets. No Harden or Irving, and Durant out with an injury and the Nets look very lack luster.

NHL Yesterday: The Hurricanes fell to Ottawa 4-3. Antti Raanta was in net for Carolina and stopped 27 shots on goal. Brendan Sith, Andrei Svechnikov and Vincent Trocheck had goals for the Hurricanes. The “canes are 31-10-3 and sit in first place in the Metropolitan division. They are back on the ice tomorrow in Boston, puck drops at 7pm.

Devils defeat the Canadiens 7-1
Wild get shut out for the first time this season by the Jets 2-0.

NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday: The North Carolina Tar Heels beat Clemson 79-77. Armando Bacot had a double-double and led the Tar Heels with 24 points and 10 rebounds. RJ Davis ended the game with 16 points. Rechon ‘Leaky’ Black ended the game with 11 points and 4 rebounds and Caleb Love had 10 points for NC.
East Carolina beat Tulsa 73-71. The Pirates move to 11-11 on the season. Vance Jackson Jr led the way for East Carolina with 22 points, 4 rebounds and an assist.
