2/22/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up
NFL: The NFL and XFL have partnered together to try and make a safer game for all. The XFL will test out new rules, equipment, and types of officiating for the NFL. This is the first time that both leagues have worked together on anything.
NBA: Goran Dragic has signed with the Brooklyn Nets. Dragic played with Steve Nash who is the head coach of the Nets. To take it a step further, Nash was Dragic’s mentor when he entered the league. This adds another shooter to the Brooklyn squad after trading James Harden before the trade deadline.
Hornets host the Raptors Friday at 7pm in the Spectrum Center

NHL: There will be no fine for Colorado Avalanches Nathan MacKinnon after contact with an official on a whiffed slap shot. The would-be slash was scrutinized frame by frame by the league and it was deemed not to be intentional contact with the official.
Yesterday: Hurricanes beat the Flyers 4-3 in overtime. Frederik Anderson stopped 38 shots on net for the Hurricanes. Brett Pesce, Vincent Trocheck, Nino Neidererreiter and Tuevo Teraveinen scored for Carolina. The Hurricanes are back on the ice Thursday as they host the Blue Jackets in PNC Arena at 7pm. The Hurricanes are 35-11-4 and are in first place in the Metropolitan division.

NCAA Men’s Basketball: Michigan’s head coach Juwan Howard has been suspended for the rest of the regular season for a post-game fracas when he hit Wisconsin’s assistant Joe Krabbenhoft during the post-game handshake between teams. His long-term future with the team is now in question.
Yesterday: Louisville falls to the Tar Heels 70-63. Brady Manek led the scoring for North Carolina with 17 points. Armand Bacot finished with a 12 point and 15 rebound double-double for the Tar Heels. Caleb Love had 16 points for North Carolina.

NASCAR Xfinity series Production Alliance 300 is Saturday at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Coverage starts at 5pm on FS1 and MRN.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 4 and Thursday, April 7, at 8pm at the Martinsville Speedway in Virginia
Local Sports: The Varsity Basketball State Championship starts tonight. Both Whiteville teams are home for the first round. The Whiteville Lady Wolfpack will face Red Springs at 6pm and the Whiteville boys will take on Granville Central at 7:30pm. Due to limited parking and construction only 650 spectators will be allowed.
Whiteville girls’ soccer scrimmage versus West Brunswick at 4:30pm
