Varsity Boys Baseball: The Whiteville Wolfpack took care of East Bladen 5-2. The Wolfpack gave East Bladen their second loss this week, which coincidently is East Bladen’s second loss of the season. The Eagles came into Legion Stadium looking for revenge and scored two quick runs of Fisher Soles in the first inning, Soles found his groove and pitched the complete game with 5 strike outs, for the win. In the bottom of the first Whiteville got those two runs back when JT Todd led the game off with a walk and then stole second base. Bud Baldwin came up to bat with one out and he singled back up the middle scoring JT Todd from second base. Todd came across the plate hobbling with a pulled leg muscle and had to leave the game. Baldwin stole second and moved to third on a bad throw down to second. Ty Lawson walked, and Luke Odham picked up an RBI when he hit a hard grounder off the third baseman and outran the throw to first. Bud Baldwin scored on the play tying the game up 2-2 in the bottom of the first.

Whiteville then put the finishing runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Grayson Bell led off the inning with a single and stole second. Bud Baldwin got a base on balls. Bell and Baldwin pull off a double steal and stand at second and third base with Ty Lawson at the Plate. Lawson then had a 2-RBI, stand-up triple as he roped a line drive over the Left fielders’ head and the ball went to the fence. Baldwin, the trail runner, crossed the plate before the left fielder even picked up the ball. Luke Odham got up and found the hole between third base and the shortstop, scoring Ty Lawson from third. That brought the score to 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning and that is how it ended.
